Last year we decided to challenge ourselves and partake in the No Grocery Store Challenge. You can read about our adventures in Projects and here.
Hillcrest Farmer's Market- San Diego, California |
One of our challenges last year was finding restaurants and other "supplies" that supported our goals. No matter how hard we tried we couldn't find rolls of toilet paper at the Farmer's Markets. We also wanted to find local meats, cheeses and fish.
This year I found the website Eat Local Grown.
The idea behind Eat Local Grown is to find sources for locally grown food and other supplies in One's area. The categories are:
- farms
- farmers markets
- restaurants
- grocery stores and co-ops.
- artisans
- butcher shops
- cheese makers
The author of the site uses the term "crowd sources." This means that it is the community that add and rate the lists for the site.
Check it out and let me know how it works for you.
